A wedding vow renewal ceremony is an opportunity for a previously married couple (whether it be a reaffirmation of a long-established couple or a wedding where family or loved ones could not attend, for example an overseas wedding) to reaffirm their vows with the omission of the legalities. It is a way for a couple to renew their commitment to each other and demonstrate that the original vows they took are still considered by them to be sacred.
Sometimes a couple may take this opportunity to alter their original vows as their circumstances may have changed. For example; they may wish to include their children, pets or family members that were not able to be present at their original union. Also, it may be that as a couple’s relationship has grown they could have come through some difficult times and the strength of their union is one that should be celebrated and reaffirmed, either in the party of others or a more intimate gathering.
