A commitment ceremony is the union of two people that wish to show their love connection.  It is an equal partnership that comes together to form a commitment to each other.  It is a promise of a lifelong bond that shows to the couple that they wish to walk alongside each other into their future together.  It may be due to an inability to legally commit due to family or other personal circumstances or that the whole “marriage thing” may not suit your dynamic.

The purpose of a Commitment Ceremony, may it be either an intimate affair, or a more lavish one, can allow friends and family, that the couple wishes to be a part of this day, to witness this special union and celebrate with them, including special vows and/or rituals; poems; readings.
